Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
I decied to read the first Harry Potter book because many of my students have read the series. In college, I watched two of the movies, but I do not remember much about them. I do know that I enjoyed them! I hope that reading this book will help me relate to students and their connections to Harry Potter. I have read about one hundred pages, and I am already hooked! I hope to read the whole series this year!
So fat i like the book and i have read books from blue ford serious .. i kind of relate to it i am not that far in the book..but cindy dose not like school that much i really do not like school that much.. but so far this book is really nice it relates to teenager life... TiTle someone to love me
I decided to read Dreamcatcher by Stephen King because some of my friends said that Stephen King was ridiculously, super, awesome at writing and I thought i'd try one of his books. It's a good book so far and I'm only on the 40th page. I think since I'm reading this it'll make some hang out times more conversational then they have been lately and I'm looking forward to their views.
Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer
I picked my book because it is part of a series that I began reading at the begining of the summer. I got interested in the series because a lot of my friends had read them and really liked them. I think I like it because the author creates a sense of suspense, which makes it really hard to put the book down. I highly recomend the entire Twilight series to anyone who is looking for a good fiction read.
I am reading Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer
I am reading this book because the title sounds interesting to me and i have never read anything by this author. One of the liabrians suggested the book to me. This book is nonficton and that is one of the main resons I chose to read this book. This book is also interesting because people really dont know how this guy died and stuff like that.
I am reading Great Expectations by Charles Dickens because in 9th grade all of my friends had to read it and all of them disliked it, so I decided to read it for myself. I also had a goal of reading at least 10 classic novels this summer, and Great Expectations was one of them. I actually enjoy it, and hope to read more by that author. I also hope to see the movie.
I chose Game of my Life, because I'm not that big of a KU fan and I don't know much about them so I decided I should learn more about them and some of the greats that played basketball for them and other teams. So far this book has been a great selection for learning this stuff about KU. It's still Texas Longhorns everyday though!
I choose to read Twilight, because all my friends got hooked on the series from the very start. The book is a good length and goes into the details I enjoy to read. My friends usually the read the same books I do and since I know that they were interested I thought I would give it a try. Twilight grabbed my attention from page one, so I'm excited to keep reading and find out what happened to her, as well as her family.
I read the book-In the year of the Bull-
So far my book has been very exciting. It is mainly about Dennis Rodman who is a big headcase and listens to no one. Some say he is crazy. But his will to rebound the ball is what got him to the N.B.A.
i am reading New moon by Stephenie Meyer. This the second book of the twlight series. Stephenie is making a movie for the first book, it will come out on december 12, 2008. It is a fiction book. Im 193 pages in the book. I have read her newest book called The Host. I hope to read all her books.
2001: A Space Odyssey-
I chose this book because i remember seeing the movie when i was younger and i had no idea there was a book on it. so im all like "yeah, i want to read the book." Books always have more awesome fun then the movies because the movies sometimes leave stuff out. so far the book is pretty good. at first it was about monkey people, and then it got all high tech suddenly. this book is science fiction.
I am reading the silver kiss and I picked this book because, someone recommendedthis book to me. It focuses on my intrest of vampires. I think that I will like this book alot. The reason why is beacuse, the book doesn't have chapters it just has sections that go back and forth between the two main characters.
I haven't really read much of my book but so far it has been pretty interesting. I have never read a book by this author but I have heard that John Feinstein is a good author. The book is mainly just about golf and how the U.S. Open has changed over the years. I can relate to this book because i play golf a lot.
What has interested me in April and the Dragon Lady is that in this Chinese Family, there's a Grandma that treats the boys of the family better than the girls because they can pass on the last name. April's brother Harry, is always is the one who is mostly favorited by their Grandma because when he gets older and gets married, he's going to pass on the last name Chen. In this story so far, boys are more important than girls.
I am reading the book Dangerous Girls by R.L.Stine. I havent finished yet but so far i really like it. Its about two senior girls Destiney and Livvy who have been at camp all summer. Destiney comes home not feeling quite herself. She got bit by something that changes her. The will change the rest of her life.
The book I am currently reading is called Red but it originally starts with the book called “Black”. Thomas Hunter is currently trying to save the world from a virus called the raison strain. This virus was originally an engineered cure that would make you immune from AIDS and other horrible diseases. But when a Swedish scientist got a hold of it he turned it into the most deadly virus that has ever hit the earth. It has the ability to travel through the worlds air currents and infect everyone. The book keeps my interest because its about the end of the world which is an interesting thing all together. The book of course is fiction.
"Rachel and Her Children: Homeless Families Living in America"
--by Johnathan Kozol
I decided to read this book, because as Social Awareness Club Sponsor, I tell my kids to "Live with their eyes wide open." The book is eye-opening and continues to help me question/challenge/care.
A Short History of the Civil War
Passage: The Election of Abraham Lincoln as the sixteenth president of the United States in November of 1860 set the stage for division, secession, and civil war.
This is the first paragraph in the book and it does a good job of saying what happened because of Lincoln's election. The civil war started because of Lincoln despite the fact he told the south they had nothing to fear. They didn't but they decided to seperate anyway because they thought he was lying. For that the civil war started.
so far this book is still exciting, learning about all the games that KU has played in. I think this book is a bit outdated though. Roy Williams wasnt the KU coach in '04 was he?
2001: a space odyssey
i just finished the book and i have to admit that it got confusing towards the end. i did however enjoy the detailed storyline and all the futuristic things involved.
