Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

I decied to read the first Harry Potter book because many of my students have read the series. In college, I watched two of the movies, but I do not remember much about them. I do know that I enjoyed them! I hope that reading this book will help me relate to students and their connections to Harry Potter. I have read about one hundred pages, and I am already hooked! I hope to read the whole series this year!

Nineteen Minutes
Jodi Picoult

The book that i am reading is Nineteen minutes. Its about the struggle that trageties put between people, how its so much easier to blame someone else over yourself. The book is about a boy named Peter who finally went crazy when bullies pushed him over the edge. He rampaged through his highschool and shot 10 students and 1 teacher. The whole story goes though his whole life and the trial. It also goes through different characters giving each person's view which is one fact that i love about Jodi Picoult's writing. I picked this book because i really enjoyed a book of her's that i have read before. I read the book because of a book club that im in so i guess it was "recommened" I think i'll like it because its interesting.

So far I like my book. It is a story about baseball. I play baseball so it is easy for me to relate to it. The story started with the 3 main characters discussing their baseball logo. I think the characters are roughly my age. No, it is a fiction story.

I decided to read this book it was givin to m by someone who i greatly respect, My African American Studies teacher from summer camp. I opened this book with no idea what it is about, but I really do enjoy doing that because I always learn more if I don't read about something I already know. I do enjoy reading about my intrests bu i feel that can only teach you so much. I have got to about the third chapter and so far the book is confusing but never the less keeps me interested.

Shooter

I choose to read the book Shooter cause the cover caught my eye. In this book it is a documentation of different phsycatrist sessions with this kid. It is a different set up than any other book I have read. The thing in this book is the whole thing is a conversation but it is telling a story through it. My characters seem to be roughly my age.

My book is called Night of the Cat. I chose this book because the cover was interesting and it looked like a good mystery. So far i probably wouldn't recommend this book because its very confusing and its not very interestiong. This book doesn't focus on my interests. It is about a sex offender and the cops trying to catch a rapist in a neighborhood. But maybe i will learn something interesting!

Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes
By Chris Crutcher

I really enjoy reading realistic fiction because its more interesting to me if you can relate to it in real life. I picked out this book because I saw that it had something to do with swimming. Even though swimming isnt the main idea of the book, thats what grabbed me to pick it. I hope that I will like this book and so far it seems to be starting off good.

The Hot Zone

The Hot Zone was written by Richard Preston. This book is about a “hot virus” that leaks out through the airport. It has been interesting so far. The way that this virus infects and destroys people is most disturbing. I hope that I will never have to go through something like that

The book that I am reading is Harry Potter and the Chambers of Secrets. So far the book is going good, I always enjoy reading these books and they never lose my interest. Its hard for me to relate to the book because it is set in a magical world and the conflicts that harry goes through are much different than anything i would go through. The book is fiction and it has caught my interest since my mom started reading them to me when i was younger and i have been reading them ever since.
