Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Passage: "Snape finished calling the names and looked up at the class. His eyes were black like Hagrid's, but they had none of Hagrid's warmth. They were cold and empty and made you think of dark tunnels."
Wow! This passage really gave me a glimpse at Snape. He seems so dark and intimidating! Black eyes certainly hint that he is scary and mean. The "dark tunnels" lead me to believe that he is distant and that it will take me, the reader, a while to figure him out!
Passage: "'Do?' She pushed her glasses higheron her nose and examined John. 'I think that's obvious, Chief. Make him the Squad Leader.'"
This passage from Halo: The Fall of Reach really struck out for me. I really like this passage because they are making him the leader, even though he hurt a couple of higher ranked soidlers. This was because of his leadership skills, I guess. This passage is very important to the book because it establishs who the main protaginist is. This has a major effect in the book and in the video game. When I read this passage, I visuilized the Cheif staring down on John, with the doctor right behind John with her hand on John's shoulder.
-"I stood frozen with fear for more than an hour, staring into the snake's deathly cold eyes, waiting for it to strike."
I like this quote because it is written as is the writer was the boy himself. He writes as if he was looking into the snakes eyes himself. I think this passage is important because it shows how everyday life for darran shan is much more terrifying then any normal life. Also, it expresses the danger that the boy has to face as daily life.
Deception Point
One important part of the book was the discovery of insects inside of a giant boulder. It was important because the boulder was a 200 or so yards long, and it was a meteor since 1765. The insects were fossilized inside of the meteor to seem as alien insects.
Breaking Dawn-By:Stephenie Meyer
Passage: "My heart took off, beating like helicopter blades, the sound almost a single sustained note; it felt like it ould grind through my ribs."
I liked this passage because I could visualize it. I could hear her heart beating totally out of control. I could see it. It's like you can almost feel the pain she's having.
in my book Twilight theres a passage that was very inportant it said "of three things i was absoulutley postive about 1. edward was a vampire 2. there was some part of him that i didn't know that thirsted for my blood and 3. i was absouletley and incridebly in lovewith him" this is a very important passage from the book because it lists the main details you need to know to read the book i have already finished this book and i loved it im on the sequel to the book it's called New Moon.
Something I've Been Meaning To Tell You
"Char and Arthur had been planning a trip this summer to see Yellowstone Park and the Grand Canyon, but they did not go. Arthur suffered a series of dizzy spells just at the end of school, and the doctor put them to bed."
I liked that this showed more information on the characters of the story because we dont have any background on them yet. When i read this passage, it made me picture the characters aren't that great in health and are a weaker group. This passage was important because it shows the characters and lets you know what they are really like.
THE LUCKIEST GIRL IN THE WORLD
"when you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are," sang Jiminy Cricket. "Anything your heart desires will come to you."
This passege stood uot to meand made me remember all the times i heard this song when i was little. It explained that this girl wished that things could be this way but since she has a strict scedual , she felt that there was never a time for relaxing or wishing.
The passage i like in my book is when the main charater of the book Jayd says " i have drama and i hate being in it can't we go to a school drama free". i can relate to that cause there is a lot of drama where ever you go and the most is in school. i understand because i'm always caught up in thing someone said, and that's where it all starts she said she said. This passage also gave me a picture in my head i can see her being to her self and someone says she said this and that when she didnt that happens al the time. The advise i would give her is if u know you didn't say then why listen to what they have to say, inseand of getting mad walk off that's something i learn to do.
I gave the card to Michael, she said, her eyes tearing up even now as she recalled teh moment. e said, is this card for me? I was too excited to say anything. I nodded my head. he opened it and read it right in front of me, right there, and thanked me. This is a passasge from my book about Michael Jordan. This passasge shows me a person in Michael we normally don't see. Not the famous star, but someone who truly cares about people.
The name of my book is "Between a Rock and a Hard Place." The passage i've chosen is, "She describes a passage in that slot where you traverse the canyon wedged between the walls some fifteen feet off the ground, the V-shaped slot tapering to a few inches wide at your feet, and even narrower below that." This passage makes me visualize what the slot looks like and how tough it would be to hike. I think it would be a cool place to hike.
"It's better if we aren't freinds, trust me"
Said Edward Cullen in the book Twilight, the book is intreguing and I am enjoying the book. It has a suspenceful aspect to it and I'm looking foward to reading the sequils. The book has very good descriptive words and, a nice vivid imaging. I am enjoying the book so far and in one sit down I got about half way done.
The newspaper article I read talked about the new team captins for the Kansas Jawhawk football team of 2009. The new captins are Joe Mortensen, Mike Rivera, Ryan Cantrell, and Todd Reesing. These four captins are all very experinced in wha tthey do and i think they will make this a great year in Kansas football.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Passage: "The Chamber of Secrets has been opened. Enemies of the heir, beware."
This passage from the book is very important for for everyone and everything in the book. This point in the book acts as the inciting incedent, starting the point of conflict. In the book the whole atmosphere of the school changes knowing that the chamber of secrets is now opened. Everyone is on their toes looking for what will happen next. THis point in the book leads to action and the build up to the climax.
Forest Gump
"In Intermediate Light, they provide me with a textbook that weigh five pounds an look like a china-man wrote it. But ever night I take it down to the basement an set on my cot under the lightbulb, an after a wile, for some peculiar reason, it begun to make sense. What did no make sense was why we was sposed to be doin it in the first place, but figgerin out them equations was easy as pie. Professor Hooks was my teacher's name, an after the first test, he axed me to come to his office after class. He say, "Forrest, I want you to tell me the truth, did somebody provide you the answers to these questions?" An I shake my head, an then he han me a sheet of paper with a problem written on it and says for me to set down an figger it out. When I'm thru, professor Hooks look at what I done an shake his head an say, "Great-godamighty." "
This passage caught my attention because an idiot that has never really done exceptionally well in school comes to college and takes a class hes not even suppose to be taking and he even understands how to do the problems in the class. This shows that minds can think in weird ways and that even an idiot can be good at something. It inspires me to no end and shows me that if an idiot like forrest can do it, then I can do it too.
invisable man
never beat someone up just because your invisable. you need to be careful what you do in life just because you think your invisable doesn't mean your really invisable. you might be getting away with free rent and stuff but untell they find out that your're there then you get into troulbe for not buying or paying for stuff that you need or might not need.
i checked out blogs today and found some really interesting ones on weddings. it is fun looking at the pictures and get ideas for the future.
